about

If Pipedreams was me trying to stand for the first time, then Solace represents me taking my first steps.

My relationship with my own music, and music as a whole, has continued to grow and I feel like I have gained a much stronger sense of my own musical identity this past year. More than anything it has become a way to vent, a way to cope, and a way to express myself.

Much like "I Am Nothing Yet", a good chunk of the writing for this album came from me dealing with certain mental health struggles and I think this led me down a certain avenue of writing. A lot of the tracks are quite indulgent, relaxed in their structure, and were largely formed on the back of extended improvisation sessions on the guitar. I don't think I'm one of "those" guitarists, the ones that essentially masturbate with their instrument, but I've always had a love of improvising, and making a start on my own writing last year really reminded me of how much I had missed simply jamming with music, in all its forms. In keeping with the name "Ambedo", creating music is something that I should have been doing for years, simply for the enjoyment of it.

I'd like to extend an enormous thank you to my friends online, who have helped with my learning process, provided a fresh set of ears and opinions, and encouraged me on numerous occasions. As I'm trying to do everything myself, this support has been, invaluable, and I try not to take it for granted. Modal, Cohen, Noah, Nachos, Groove, Marshall, Teo & Brandon. You guys are the best.

A final thank you to my artistic saviour Khmnoosh, for helping me out on such short notice with the art for "I Am Nothing Yet", and the wonderful work on the album cover. Collaborating and bouncing ideas back and forth with you, has been an unexpected treat.
